JOS blog hop "Something New"

Hi crafters,

Welcome to the JoS blog hop featuring something new to your stash. If you have just dropped in from Andrea, then I know you'll already be inspired. If you've started with me, then I hope you'll like what I've made and will go on to visit our other crafters for more wonderful projects.

So, now the new Stampin Up! catalogue is out, I have a few new things to play with. It was hard to choose which project to show you, but I finally settled on the beautiful Floral Essence stamp set.
I was lucky enough to go to Onstage in April when they showed us some of the new goodies and I immediately fell in love with this suite.

It was my daughter's birthday last week and I wanted to use this stamp set for her card. I'm also loving the new In Colours from Stampin Up!, especially Seaside Spray, a beautiful blue colour.

Heres what I came up with
I started with a 5 3/4" square card (11 1/2" x 5 3/4" thick White scored at 5 3/4").

Then a layer of regular white card measuring 5 1/2" x 5 1/2", embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. I sponge the edges with Seaside Spray.

Then I took a 5" x 5" square white and stamped random flowers and leaves in Versamark and used white embossing powder.
I also repeated this twice on a scrap of white and fussy cut the flowers.

I then used the Seaside Spray and Old Olive ink pads (dabbed onto clear blocks) to colour the flowers and leaves. I used an Aquapainter to create a watercolour effect .... a nod at my son-in-law who is an amazing artist .... this is why there are slight differences in the flower colours.
I used Night of Navy to stamp the centres of the flowers.
I liberally painted everything with Wink of Stella

To finish I used another new stamp set, Family Party for the sentiment.
My daughter loves her card and for once so do I!

Well, thank you for visiting me here in blogland. Please do leave a comment before heading off to Susan

If you would like to buy any of these items, you can find them in my SU store, the link should be over on the right of the screen. You'll also notice a host code. If your order reaches £30 or more I'll send you a little gift as a thank you 😊
